5 Reasons Why Our Family Vaccinates

We are so grateful to Dana of House of Navy for sharing her family’s story! Read more here

There are so many choices we make daily as parents. From what food our kids eat, to which schools they attend, to finding the best routine for our families, and so much more! We all want the best for our children, and as parents, we try to equip ourselves with the skills, tools, research, and resources to provide. One of the ways our family chooses to protect our children is through vaccination. Today I’m sharing the top reasons why our family vaccinates.

I Vaccinate provides information and tools based on real medical science and research to help Michigan parents make informed decisions and help protect their kids.

Why do we choose to vaccinate? I’m sharing 5 reasons it is the best decision for us below!

5 Reasons Why Our Family Vaccinates

1. Vaccines are Safe and Effective

Vaccines go through a rigorous process before being brought to market in which clinical trials are conducted to evaluate the safety and effectiveness. Contrary to myth, vaccines will not make you or your child sick, and will not overwhelm your child’s immune system. It is safe to receive combination or multiple vaccines in one visit. Rest assured, scientists continually monitor vaccines to ensure their safety.

2. Vaccines Help Protect Everyone

Vaccines protect our children and teens from 16 vaccine-preventable diseases, including HPV, which can cause six types of cancer. It isn’t just a personal choice, either. Your decision to vaccinate helps provide protection to those in your community, keeping Michiganders strong and healthy. With a vaccinated population of 90-95%, it is nearly impossible for a disease to spread! By choosing to vaccinate, we care for babies too young to be vaccinated, pregnant women, the elderly, and those in our community who are dealing with chronic illness or a compromised immune system.

3. Vaccines Are Passed to My Unborn Baby

We are expecting our third baby later this fall! One of the amazing things about pregnancy is that you share everything with your baby. That means when you get vaccines, you aren’t just protecting yourself, you’re also giving your baby early protection as well. This gives me so much peace of mind, especially having an infant during cold and flu season in Michigan.

4. We Believe in Science!

It is normal to have questions. After all, it makes you a good parent! I value doing my research before making important decisions for my children. Now more than ever, it is imperative to make sure you’re getting answers from credible sources. Talk to your child’s doctor and explore resources like IVaccinate.Org. We trust our pediatricians and scientists who have devoted their life’s work to world health. I Vaccinate has excellent resources for parents, including recommended immunization schedules by age. There is even a catch up schedule if you’ve missed any.

5. We Vaccinate For Those Who Couldn’t

Without research and development, the United States wouldn’t have the safest, most effective vaccine supply in its history.
With respect for our community, our neighbors, and everyone who lost their battle with a disease before a vaccine was available, our family chooses to vaccinate.
