ALLEGAN COUNTY, MI — The Allegan County Health Department is offering free flu vaccinations in December.
Flu shots will only be available by appointment Dec. 3, 10 and 17 to reduce the number of people entering the building at once, according to a Tuesday, Dec. 1 press release.
Anyone age 6 months and older without insurance or with insurance that does not cover vaccines may receive the free flu shot.
Officials say increased vaccination rates will reduce the spread of flu during the COVID-19 pandemic and prevent serious illness, hospitalizations and deaths. Flu vaccination can also reduce the likelihood of simultaneous infection with both flu and COVID-19.
The upcoming health department flu vaccinations will be held at the Allegan County Health Department Clinic, located at 3255 122nd Ave., Ste. 200.
Below are the dates and times of the flu clinics:
Thursday, Dec. 3 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Thursday, Dec. 10 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Thursday, Dec. 17 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
To schedule an appointment, call 269-673-5526. Upon arrival, recipients will be screened for COVID-19 symptoms at the door and will be required to wear a mask.
The flu vaccine is widely available and free with most insurance at area medical offices, pharmacies and community events. For local options, visit www.vaccinefinder.org.
