SAGINAW, MI – Starting this weekend, Great Lakes Bay Health Centers’ Saginaw location will offer free flu vaccines from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. every Saturday.
The public is welcome to the free shots, which the health center will offer in a drive-through service beginning Saturday, Nov. 28, at its parking lot, located at 1522 Janes St. on Saginaw’s East Side. Simply follow the signs, park and call the phone number listed at the location to have a staffer come and give you the vaccine at no charge, according to a news release.
While the state faces a worsening COVID-19 pandemic, a bad flu season could contribute to strain on Michigan’s public health infrastructure. In August, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer introduced a statewide campaign aiming to inoculate 1 million more Michiganders than in 2019, which would save resources and give health care workers more leeway to focus on fighting COVID-19.
Saginaw, Bay, Kent and other counties saw slight improvements in their COVID-19 transmission rates as of Tuesday.
