One Good Thing: Curbside vaccinations

Time for One Good Thing — someone or something that makes West Michigan a good place to live.

Spectrum Health is trying to make that as easy as possible. They’ve set up curb-side vaccinations at more than 40 locations across West Michigan. And it’s not just flu vaccines. 16 different vaccines are available, including childhood vaccinations. They say this is one of the first programs of its kind in the Midwest. You can make an appointment through their My Chart website. Most visits take about 10 minutes.

Spectrum representatives say this program is especially important because so many people fell behind on their vaccines during the pandemic.

For making it easier to get vaccines and stay healthy – especially during COVID – the Spectrum curbside vaccine program gets today’s One Good Thing.

Recommended Immunization Schedules

These schedules list the age or age range when each vaccine or series of shots is recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). If your child (birth through 6 years old) or adolescent (age 7 through 18 years old) has missed any shots, talk to your child’s doctor about getting back on track.

Michigan School & childcare Immunization Requirements

Request your child’s immunization record

The Michigan Care Improvement Registry (MCIR), is an immunization registry managed by MDHHS and reported to by immunization providers. MCIR allows healthcare providers or individuals to access their immunization records regardless of their location in Michigan. This system also helps to track local and state immunization rates of Michigan residents to ensure immunity to vaccine-preventable illnesses. MCIR is a lifespan registry that includes infant through adult records.
