Walk-in Flu vaccinations are available in Port Huron

According to a news release, walk-in flu vaccinations are available from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesdays through Nov. 14 at the St. Clair County Health Department, 3415 28th St., Port Huron.

Vaccinations also are available by appointment on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.

Vaccines also are available by appointment for ages 10 to 21 at the Teen Health Center, 2215 Court St., Port Huron; call (810) 987-1311. Walk-in vaccinations also are available for ages 19 and older at The Center of Port Huron, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

The health department offers vaccines that protect against four strains of influenza. The department also has available the high dose flu vaccine for ages 65 and older that protects against three strains of the flu.

The cost for uninsured and under-insured will vary based on income and family size. Most insurance is accepted, according to the news release.

Recommended Immunization Schedules

These schedules list the age or age range when each vaccine or series of shots is recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). If your child (birth through 6 years old) or adolescent (age 7 through 18 years old) has missed any shots, talk to your child’s doctor about getting back on track.

The Michigan Care Improvement Registry (MCIR), is an immunization registry managed by MDHHS and reported to by immunization providers. MCIR allows healthcare providers or individuals to access their immunization records regardless of their location in Michigan. This system also helps to track local and state immunization rates of Michigan residents to ensure immunity to vaccine-preventable illnesses. MCIR is a lifespan registry that includes infant through adult records.
